Seismic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test with expertise in Python (or similar) to join our dynamic and innovative team. As a key member of the Quality Engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through the design, implementation, and execution of automated test suites and supporting test infrastructure and libraries. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, SRE, infrastructure, and delivery engineers to drive the development of scalable and robust software testing solutions.
What you will be doing:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites and frameworks in Python
- Including functional and performance testing (UI, API, Datastores, Mobile, and Desktop applications)
- Execute automated tests and analyze results to identify defects, performance constraints, and areas for improvement
- Write test plans and test scenarios, execute manual tests where necessary
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test strategies, test plans, and acceptance criteria
- Participate in coverage and design reviews, identify gaps/issues, and provide feedback
- Investigate and support incident triage and resolution
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in software test automation
- Demonstrated ability to lead the design and implementation of automated test infrastructure and test suites
- Development experience in Python preferred (Ruby, GO, JavaScript, or similar experience)
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and practices
- Experience with test automation frameworks such as PyTest
- Experience with Performance testing tools and frameworks (Locust, Jmeter or similar)
- Experience building and supporting continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines (Jenkins, ArgoCD, or similar)
- Experience with version control systems (Github, GitHub Actions)
- Familiarity with containerization technologies
- Knowledge of SDLC and Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
